running up a new SQL 2008 R2

  • Guys,

I’m in the process of running up a new SQL 2008 R2 server on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 bit VM and was wondering what the best practice is with regard to paging file sizes? The box will have 4GB of memory. Generally we use 2X the physical memory for all servers.

    Your comments are welcome.

  • The paging is handled by the OS and any recommendation provided by the Operating system guide should be good enough.

You can decide if you want more than 1 page file split across multiple drives also.
