Running SSRS 2000 having ReportServer database on SQL Server 2008 (64 bit)

  Dears,

  I have SQL Server Reporting services 2000 installed on my web server. This web server connects to my DB Server which is running on SQL Server 2000 having ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB on it.

  Now we are planning to upgrade our DB Server to SQL Server 2008 (64 bit).

  I just want to confirm that anyone has tried this before that Reporting Services 2000 are installed at web server having Windows Server 2003 and SQL Server 2000 and the ReportServer DB is located at a remote machine on SQL Server 2008 (64 bit).

  The steps I've tried so far:

  1. Moved the ReportServer and ReportServerTemp DB to SQL Server 2008 from SQL Server 2000.

  2. Ran rsconfig -c –s<Remote ServerName> -dReportServer -aSQL –u<uid> –p<pass> on my web Server.

  Now when I try to open http://localhost/Reports the following error appears:

  The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.9.45'. The expected version is 'C.0.6.54'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase) Get Online Help

  Any ideas?

  Atif,

  while it's possible to run SSRS 2008 and using a 2005 ReportingDB, it's not possible to use a database version which is higher than the SSRS version.

  So using SSRS 2000 (why you want to keep using that anyway???), can't use a database on a 2005 or 2008 server.
