Hi all,
contra to my title, how can i stop SQL 2005 service whereas SQL 2000 is running?
I'm install both SQL in my computer, but when I want to stop SQL 2005 service, the SQL 2000 also stopped.
Thanks in advance.

Anton,
are you sure you stopped the right service? I never had any issues like this. The service for 2005 is called "SQL Server (MSSQL Server)" versus "MSSQLSERVER" in 2000.
Are there any dependencies on the services?

SQL Server 2005 -> Configuration tools -> SQL Server Configuration Manager -> SQL Server 2005 Services -> right click over the service you want to stop

Exactly how are you stopping the service(s) at the moment? As others have said, they are very much distinct.

You're stopping them one by one. They are distinct in sql 2k5 because you may not use full-text search for example, or you may not need sql browser in which cases this comes handy.
