Running Actual execution plan is freezing for ever

  Hi,I'm troubleshooting a procedure which is taking 3 mins. Trying to get the actual execution plan but when I select actual execution plan in SSMS and execute the procedure it freezing SQL Server and procedure executing for ever. I have waited for 30 mins and cancelled it's execution.

  any thoughts why actual execution plan creating issue? If I run without selecting actual execution plan, then it completes in 3 mins.

  Has your stored procedure got a loop in it?  If so it would be outputting an execution plan for each iteration of the loop.
