running 7.0 and 2000 on same server

  • I have run into a couple of production servers running instances of 7 and 2000, and I need to apply sp3 the 2000 instance. Has anyone had any experience with this? Are there any pitfalls to avoid, other than the ones mentioned for typical service pack applications?

The MDAC checks out as v2.6, but comcheck found a file version mismatch error with the msjtes40.dll file, so I am thinking I need to upgrade the MDAC manually before applying the service pack.

Other than the additional overhead, are there any issues with this type of setup?

    Thanks.

  • SP3 will upgrade MDAC to 2.71

No issues really. The application of the SP3 should not affect the SQL 7 instance.
