I'm looking at installing 2008R2 and 2014 side by side, then using Mirroring to provide HA for the 2008R2 instance and AoHA for the 2014 instance. I'd be using the same two physical servers for both the Mirroring pair and the AoHA pair.
Is anyone doing this? Are you aware of any issues? I'd like to be aware of the pitfalls before I commit to the work.
Thanks
Leo
No solution in IT is so complex that you can't find a client who wants a more complex solution.

You'll need to cluster the 2 nodes before using AO availability groups for 2014, have you thought about this.
Ensure you provide sufficient network redundancy for the mirror traffic for the 2008R2 mirror sessions and the 2014 AO mirror sessions

Thanks Perry. At this point I've built a whole lot of 2012 and 2014 AoHA environments for various clients so know this well. The current proposal is for a client who is Mirroring a 2.3TB database along with a bunch of smaller DBs. The plan is to move what we can to 2014 AoHA, but one or two DBs are not 2012/14 compliant hence the need to keep Mirroring. Network capability isn't an issue as the current system handles the Mirroring with room to spare.
My real issue is how practical is it to use Mirroring and AoHA from the same physical server, using two SQL instances in a single OS. I've worked through the logic of it and can't find any reason for it not to work, but was hoping someone may have done this before.
Cheers
