RSS feed

  • Hi Steve, Brian et al,

I downloaded a new news aggregator and obviously wanted to put the SSC feed into it, which seems to have worked OK, but the links to the articles seem to fail.  An example is one of the more recent entires, when clicking on the title resolved to the following URL --> http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/articlesexternal.asp?articleid=1821

Just wanting to know if either i) i'm using the wrong feed (I got the uri for it from an old post indicating it was a beta RSS feed) or ii) a known issue with the rss feed.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

  • What are you using as a news aggregator? I'm using Thunderbird and the feeds are coming through fine on my end.

I'm using this as the feed:

    http://www.sqlservercentral.com/sscrss.xml

  • Brian

What are the chance of getting an RSS feed of forum posts??

    --------------------
Colt 45 - the original point and click interface

  • Now *that* sounds spiffy

BK -> I'm using RSS Bandit, and it looks like it could be the culprit.  I just checked the xml under the covers and it's clearly not typo'ing the URL, but when Bandit shows the intended target in the status bar it shows the address as per my earlier post.  I'll talk with the bandit guys

    Steve.

  • what is interesting is a quick look at my other feeds shows that the URL's to go to the web version of the post are all correctly formed??

    Steve.

  • Should be not too bad. Don't know if this is readily available, but the forum component (php, but that doesn't matter) I use for my site, offers such a functionality.

    May I make a remark?

My ASSUG profile looks *really* strange in the wording. Couldn't they find a better abbreviation?

  • You mean you're not a member frank?

Hey BK (or anyone else with a news aggregator), I have now got this down to only those items that are columnists have the url correct and everything that's an article is doubling up on the http://www.ssc bit.  Anyoen esle with a similar behaviour?

    Steve.

  • No, not yet

    Btw, ...

Anyoen esle with a similar behaviour?

Already trying to pronounce "ASSUG" or "AUSSQLUG"?
