Hi ,
I'am having the following strange situation.
First let me explain the configuration:
Windows 2000 server with sql-server and running reportingservices.
HP9000 Unix server with oracle 9i database
I've installed oracle client client tools on the W2K server and configured a
connection to the oracle database.
Tnsping to oracle database works fine.
On the W2K server there are lot of reports running. There is one report that
gets his data from the oracle database.
On irregular times this report is not functioning. The following error is
generated :
Reporting Services Error
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Get
Online Help
Cannot create a connection to data source 'urko'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)
Get Online Help
Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12541
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Microsoft Reporting Services
While a tnsping to the oracle Database is working
After several retries the report is function well.
I've found some information about changing the settings in internet explorer to refresh the page by every visit, but this didn't change a thing.
Thanks for any advice.
Kind regards.

Irregular errors like this are usually Oracle TNS Names file related sometimes you can just copy your existing TNS Names file into note pad and delete and replace the existing file and reboot the box and the problem will go away. If it continue Oracle documentation may not help you, metalink Oracle online support is your next step. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply.
The tnsnames.ora is ok. Link to oracle with other programs like TOAD, ORacle sql, oracle enterprise manager and all oracle clienttools works fine.
It's just with reporting services that I'm having problems.
Nothing found on oracle metalink.
Kind regards.

I have two links that will take you in the right direction because your error means the Listener is not running on your connection. Hope this helps.
