Hi,
I have been struggling to set-up a new Reporting Server on a local system. I visited all possible sites and run-through the docuements related to this issue, unfortunately, I could not find a specific link/document related to my problem:
Unexpected database error -2147159548
I get this error whenever when I try to RSActivate or RSKeyMgmt.
Any idea what could be the problem?

Even after 24 hours there is no reply to my query...
I would appreciate experts if they can share their opinion on this, whether this is a tough one or just a silly query?

RM, it looks to me as if you are using a SQL 2005 Reporting services Database with SP2. Is this correct? Has the Database been updated/service packs applied? Were they also applied to the Report Server application itself?
sorry this isn't an answer, but should help point you in the right direction.
NAGESH, can you give more info on your problem? What version is your DB, the RS application, Server Platform, etc... but your problem is probably the same as RM's (Version differences between the DB and app)

thanks Jason, I've seen similar claims in other threads on the net, however my config is
SQL2k SP4
WIN2k3 SP2
RS2k SP1
I want to confirm that no SP was installed on RS2k. can i do this by selecting the SERVERPROPERTY('ProductLevel') on the DB ?

Jason, i hope you're still watching this
i got pulled off this problem temporarily so there is no progress. However, as per your suggestion, i am unable to pull the version from the webapp url on the server in question. what i can tell you is that my production & development servers are both running the following verion
Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services Version 8.00.878.00
the server i am having problems with is my disaster recovery server and should match the same identical config.
Can you tell me where (in what table/DB) does the webapp pull this version number from, since when i try to browse to http://myServerName/reportServer i get the error in question
thanks again

RM,
Read through the info here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;842425 This may not be exactly what you need, but it should get you going in the right direction.
Sorry, I can't be of more help.

Judging from your other post, you may be better off following the directions in the other article. Make sure that you BACKUP the Encryption KEY as described in the article, before you do any uninstalling!!!!

Hi, we are having a similar error. Initially we had a SQL server 2000 box with SSRS 2005 installed on it. We are now trying to connect a windows 2003 box to it.
On initialisation we get the following.
The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.8.54'. The expected version is 'C.0.8.43'. To continue, update the version of the report server database and verify access rights.
We have tried two different W3K servers and the error message is the same on both.
If anyone can held that would be good.

Hi,
We found what we thought would be a fix to this, which was a script which upates the database version. However we need to run this script manually each day as for some reason the database version reverts back to C.0.8.43 overnight.
If anyone can shed any light on this it would be a great help.
Thanks.
