I installed RS and the install went okay. However, when I try to access localhost\reports I get an error (server is not responding). Also, when I try to connect to RS configuration manager I immediately get an error that tells me the config. mgr cannot connect to the server (the error literally says 'Not Found'). I have no options to connect or configure anything there. I suspect that this is related to permissions or security in some way but I can't find what it is. I have reinstalled RS several times to no avail.
I am running MS SQL 2005 on Win XP, SP2.
Any help or direction is greatly appreciated.

Is this SQL Server 2005? Did you tell Reporting Services to start during the install?
You need to go to SQL Server Surface Area Configuration -> Configuration for Services and make sure SQL Server is set to allow remote connections.
You should also go to Reporting Services Configuration and make sure everything is setup and installed correctly and started.

Local and remote connections are enabled (I am local to the server btw).
I have 4 instances of RS showing in SQL server config mgr, one of them shows as running. It is set to start automatically. The one that is running is set to run as localsystem, not my network ID; not sure if this is right or not.

LocalSystem would be the default and should not cause the non-connection issue. Is IIS running?

IIS v 5.1 is running (I am able to see other pages and sites that I have on that instance).
I also noticed in the Event viewer, I am getting a daily error from the Report Server; Event 117, The report server database is an invalid version.

I'm getting the same error message. I've verified that remote connections are setup and ISS is running.
Did you ever find a solution?
Thanks

Unfortunately I did. I say unfortunate because I ended up wiping the HD and reinstalling everything. Sorry its not better info.

I actually just figured out my issue.
I installed sp2 for reporting services and then gave write access to the 'network' user.
This then allowed me to run the 'upgrade' from the 'database setup' window in the 'Configure ReportServer', which allowed me to 'restore/backup' the encryption keys.
I'm now able to connect to the Reporting server via IIE and SQL Management tools.
Thanks
Susan
