Hi All,
What Role(s) is required in the SSRS Report Manager to be able to create 'Data Sources'. I've given all the SSRS built-in roles (Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder) but the user is still receiving the below error when trying to create a Data Source in the Report Manager of Web.
"User 'DOMAIN\user' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted"
I appreciate if someone could assist me with me
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Content manager should by default do the job.
Open up your Reporting Services instance (set the server type to Reporting Services to connect to the actual Reporting Services instance, not the database) in Management Studio and you can examine the roles there by right clicking and Properties..
Check content manager has 'Manage data sources' selected.

Hi, Thanks for your suggestion. I checked it and Content Manager has all the tasks including Manage Data Sources selected. This user has content manager role at the sub folder where he should be able to create Data Sources but doesn't have Content Manager at the Home folder. Is that going to be a problem?
To be more precise lets says below is our folder structure in the Report manager
Home --> Team --> Player --> etc
The user should be able to create a data source under Player folder and this user already has Content Manager role at that folder level.
But still receiving the error. Any suggestions?
Thanks

In the Report manager adding the account under Site Settings --> Security with System User role fixed the issue. Then the user was able to create shared data sources.
Hope it will help others!
