The boss attached the backup copy I had of our old SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005. She realized her mistake and now I have to get it back. Is there a way to backout of SS-2005 when the files were attached? She has gone to get her hair done and expects me to have some answers upon her return.

Hello Herb!,
When ur boss attached a SQL 2k backup to a SQL 2K5 server it got upgraded in the process.
Now u have to set the DB Compatibility level to SQL 8.0 in the Management Studio. (I fail to recall what's the T-SQL for that). But i am sure that this must be in Database Properties Dialog box in Management Studio.
After setting the Compatibility level of the Database to Version 8.0 (SQL 2000), You can take the backup of the Database from the SQL Server 2005 and restore it on SQL server 2000.

Thanks and I'll give it a try. After taking the backup, can the Db Compatibility be changed back for 2005 operations?
