Hello Experts
This is a test db not production SS2005.
I have full backup of the master db and tried simulating a crash;
- Stopped the service
- renamed master.mbf and mastlog.ldf
- tried starting up the service/default instance MSSQLSERVER in single user mode as follows
cd f:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn
.\sqlservr.exe -m
It gives Error 17113 ; Says cannot find the /master.mdf.
I tried as per the url
http://sql-articles.com/articles/rebuildsysdb.html
Step2 => start /wait .. command
It slept for 2 minutes and exitted normally; No new files (master*.f) were created in Data directory.
I have two questions in this regard.
Q1: What is that i am missing?
Q2: Should master / model / msdb be backed up using File group/ files? But the Enterprise Manager greys it out once i choose System Database;
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
