Has anybody been able to restore a database thruogh SQL 7.0 utilities,that has been backed up through Veritas?

I don't believe you can. My understanding is Veritas looks at file changes and backs up that way. Where SQL Servers internal backup process is based on data transactions.

I feel your pain. it is a peice of (*&^!!!!!
It has been nothing but problems. What makes it worse is different department manages the backup/restore process.

Do the safe thing... Have your own backups writing to disk (if you have the space). Then, when they do the backup of the system, they'll pick up your backup file just like it was any other file. If you need to restore again, ask for that file!
