I am investigating restoring issues and have on purpose restored the last log using NORECOVERY. I know there is a simple way to change the database to a recovered state because I saw it in a newsgroup last year - unfortunately I can't find the URL and can't see an obvious option for this. Anyone got the solution?

Try this out....
RESTORE DATABASE <yourdatbase> WITH RECOVERY
