Restoring backups overview

I'm all we have at the moment, and I'm trying to learn everything I can about disaster-handling before the event. I'm working through Brent Ozar's hierarchy here:
I noticed the video he links to for restoring backups is a few years old.Can anyone help me understand if this is still a good, basic overview? I'm setting up a test server to start practice (and test the .baks). As an FYI - We are running mostly SQL 2012 through 2016 using VMware in our nearby data centers.(By the way, if this is the wrong spot to be asking this please feel free to backhand me to another spot!

When it comes to "disaster-event" you need to think about those 3 topics: Backup, High-Availability, Disaster Recovery.
Now it seems you want to tackle the Backup topic. I guess you should start reading on different type of backups with SQL Servers:
- https://www.sqlshack.com/understanding-sql-server-backup-types/Once you know what type of backup you have in place, then you can read about the restore process.
