RESTORE VERIFYONLY

    Do we need to check the database backups periodically with RESTORE VERIFYONLY?

    Anyone has any thoughts of having this a scheduled job to check if we have a valid backup?! Or the VERIFY option while taking backup should be fine??

    I run this command occasionally but do perform database restoration to another server regularly to ensure the backup works.

    The restore verify only won't tell you if the restore process wil work fine. It doesn't check the consistency of the data inside the backup. So I also think the best way to be shure of our backups, is a restore.
