Can system databases (master, model, msdb) backed up from SQL2k SP3 be restored to an instance of SP3a? Can they be restored from SP3a to SP3? TIA!

I got the following trying to restore msdb until I applied the hotfix that I had applied on the original server to the destination server.
Server: Msg 3168, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The backup of the system database on device f:\SQLBACKUP\system_backup.BAK cannot be restored because it was created by a different version of the server (134218565) than this server (134218262).
Once the versions matched, I was able to restore msdb on the destination server.

SP3 and SP3a are compatible from this point of view. They both show 134218488 when you use
select @@microsoftversion
so yes, you can restore a SP3 master over an SP3a installation. This I did and worked fine. I suppose you can do the other way around (SP3a over SP# installation) as they have same Microsoft version.
