Our thirdparty vendor given SQL 2008 Compressed backup file. ( The Backup compression done by new feature of SQL 2008)
Is there any way to restore it on SQL 2005?

Restores aren't normally backward compatible. There will be features and structures in the 2008 database that 2005 won't understand or be able to deal with. If this isn't a production usage, I'd recommend installing 2008 developer edition somewhere (if the database isn't too large) and then copying the structure and data onto your 2005 server. If this is going to be the normal production procedure, I think you're going to have to get a 2008 enterprise license for backup compression support ( or get a less expensive license and have your vendor send you uncompressed backups).

Any version/edition of SQL Server 2008 can restore a compressed backup, however only enterprise can make one.
It does have to be 2008.
