Restore database txtPost_CommentEmoticon(':-)');

  • Hi,

    I have a prod database of backup of size 300 GB on my production server.

    I need to restore this Prod database to Development server.

    Questions:

    Which one of the following is recommended? Which puts less load on Prod Server?

    1. Copy the backup file (.bak), the 300 GB file from Production server to Development server and then restore the database (or)

    2. Directly restore the database from Production server by giving the path as \\Prodserver\Prod.bak

  • Depends. are your backups on separate *physical* spindles from everything else, it wouldn't be too bad. I'd usually copy, then work.
