Restore backup file from different version

    Can I restore a backup file in sql server 2000 sp3/kb815495 patch into sql server 2000 running sp4?

    You should have no problems doing this. If you're worried, try to restore it with a testing name (like "MyDb_temp" -- and watch those file names), on a testing server if you've got one.

    One additional note ... this is for 'user' databases only. master, model and msdb cannot be restored to different versions.
