restore a database from 2008 to 2005

    Can I restore a database that is on SQL server 2008 to a SQL server 2005 server?

    You cannot restore a SQL 2008 backup on a 2005 server.

    What you could do is using the copy database wizard to export your database to the 2005 machine. Off coursed if you're using any 2008 specific features like geo-datatypes that could still cause a problem
