I just installed SQL Server 2000 with sp3a and hotfix ms03-031 on a Windows 2003 Server (Enterprise Edition).
I'm getting the following error in the SQL Error log when SQL Server starts.
Resource Manager Creation Failed: Result Code = 0x8004d01c
It seems to be related to DTS. But the only KB article I could find didn't seem to apply to this situation.
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks!

Is win2003 Clustered?

No. It's not clustered. Normal install. Default SQL Server instance.
Thanks,
Ben

SQL Standard or Enterprise? Not that it should matter, just wondering.
I haven't seen this error, but this is one of those areas that is probably worth a call to PSS if you need it fixed fast. Otherwise, can you uninstall and reinstall. Be sure you reboot, whack registry keys and setup files before you do that.
Also, check the install log. In Winnt or system32, sqlstp.log or something like that. Should be near the top of recently modified files.

Thanks Steve. I was thinking that a call to PSS would be in order too.
We run Enterprise Edition.

Hi,
What was the MS support solution and explanation for that error?
