This is a good question. I don't see this feature used on any of the servers I manage.

Steve - Another great question. I have used several CPU resource alocation products. They all require that the Min cpu for all groups adds up to 100% or less. 😉

I really like this feature which was introduced in SQL 2008.For my work I created a little Excel sheet I like to use to calculate these MIN and MAX values.
If you're interested you can download the sheet at Resource Governor Pool Calculator[/url]. Comments are appreciated 😉
Nice calculator for those of us challenged by simple math. I like the warning that says the MIN is greater than 100%. Maybe add a running total of available MIN or a message stating that you are at zero available. I already modified my copy 🙂
(A15 changed to) =IF(SUM(B2:B13)>100,"MIN IS GREATER THAN 100%",IF(SUM(B2:B13)=100,"MIN IS NOW AT 100%",""))
(A16)AVAILABLE MIN
(C16)=SUM(100-SUM(B2:B13))
Thanks for sharing it!

Glad you liked the question. Easy question if you know the min issue, otherwise, hope you learned something.
