Hey,
Can the same report, when published on different servers on different computers, be rendered very differently? meaning - colors change, layout change, point labels change? I don't think it has to do with browser definitions although that could still be a reason.
How can I make sure my reports look the same where ever they are published? Is there a set of standards?

You'd also have to take into account the display capabilities of the point where the reports are being viewed.

eg: If you develop a colorful report using 32-bit HiColor and the client can only display 256 colors, then your colors are going to be different no matter what you do.

However, i'm talking about deploying reports on the same platform - PC, winXP with SQL2000 and RS. The colors in the chart come out different than what is defined in the report, and the lines of the point labels do not appear. Come to think of it, the only problem is in rendering the chart...

So are these the same servers or as you stated in your initial post "when published on different servers on different computers" unless the hardware and display properties are set the same you won't get the same results.

Even so when the report is displayed at the client workstation, you don't have people viewing reports on the server console do you, it could be different again. The best you could do is probably limit the color selection to a 256 color palette.

my exact problem is that the charts come out differently than they were defined. If I use green as series a color, then i would expect it to appear green regardless of any machine setting. If I define the point labels to appear outside the pie chart then it is irregular that they appear inside it. All other stuff - red appearing redder, or some layout issues - can be related to local settings, but in my case it is REALLY weird.

Have you looked at the code (rdl) behind the report? Did the settings change there?

Of course. But this is not the problem, since in preview mode everythings fine. Also, when deployed on my machine it looks great. When deployed on a clients machine, however, it's like a different chart is showing.
