Reporting Services: unable to change the Windows Service Identity

  • I have just installed sql server with reporting services. The application I am configuring it for requires that the Windows Service Identity uses the Built-in Account/Network Service. When I try and change this from the existing Local Service account I get an encryption key information box which asks for "a security password which will be used to backup your RS encryption key". No matter what I enter here the Key File field below it remains greyed-out and all I can do at this point is cancel out of this dialogue box.

What to I have to do to get the account changed to the network service? (I do not have a requirement to encrypt the data).

    Regards

  • Please ignore this post. I realise that I should have entered the key file name first and then entered a password. (The fields should really be in this order I think). Once I did this the problem resolved itself.
