Hello ,
We're setting up subscriptions for e-mail rendering of reporting services reports in pdf or xls format.
However, when we try to open the file attachments they appear to be unreadable (corrupted file). The funny thing is that the files generated with identical subscriptions but with the file rendering option can be openend without any problem.
Our environment :
- SQL 2005 standard edition (64-bit) SP1
- OS : W2003 server (standard edition)
Any suggestions ?
Thx.

Are you experiencing the problem through the web exchange interface, outlook or both?
Have you tried sending the report to a hotmail or other type of email service?

Hi Jason,
Thx for the reply. We're using Exchange as our e-mail platform. I'll need to check if the SMTP set-up is configured to allow access to external e-mail services.
The pushing of reports is a specific requirement defined in the project specs of my customer. Tried to convince them to use file rendering, but he's pretty conservative at that point...

What I was referring to is how are the emails being opened? Any report attachment that we send out will be fine if opened through the Outlook application, but if you go to the Outlook Web Service (OWS) and get it there, the attachment is either missing or corrupted. I believe this is something in the core of RS, but really don't know. That's the reason I asked if you've tried Hotmail or something similar.
Also, do you get the same result sending the reports to yourself internally?

If the report attachment is fine through Outlook but not fine through OWS this is *not* likely to be "something in the core of RS", more likely to be something in how OWS is set, security difference. IOW one of the two clients sees XML or embedded script or something else that it is not allowed to pass on, within the attachment. Often the attachment will look like it's there but saves out as 0 bytes. Is that what you are seeing?

Lisa,
That is exactly what I am seeing and can't find a solution. The weird thing is that the message can go to four different people, and three of them can get it through OWA, but one can not.
I've searched quite a bit for a solution, but can't seem to find anyone who's run into this and solved it.
Anyone?
