Reporting Services - Execution cannot be found

  • Hello.

I am getting an error with Reporting Services, using Excel 2002 as a ODBC data source. The error is: Execution 'hptue345vrogshitwxz2ff55' cannot be found.

For historical reasons, my users use Excel extensively. This is gradually being replaced, but for now I would like to generate a SQL2005 Reporting Services report from a worksheet in a large (100MB) Excel 2002 workbook that is stored on a network drive.

The works fine locally, in Visual Studio.

Initially I had a problem running the report on the 32-bit server, as the \\servername\folder link in the ODBC Data Source did not work, and we had to map a drive letter to the share name in the group startup policies. At this point I was getting an error that the datasource could not be found.

Now, it goes a step further, but I immediately get this 'Execution cannot be found' error message. There is no delay, so I don't think it is a timeout.

I have got this working with a test on the local drive on the server, but the problem is with the network drive, or with the Excel spreadsheet which has embedded macros.

    Again, this works perfectly locally.

The SSRS login has access to the file.

I am using the SSRS browser, i.e. I'm not embedding the report in .NET.

Can anyone shed some light on this error message?

    Regards,

    Wayne

  • Further information - I just tried to add a standard report using emebedded SQL code as a data source, and I get the same error. There is something wrong with reporting services.

    Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
