We are planning to implement SQL Server 2008 and use Reporting Services as our reporting solution. I have been looking into books on the subject (Reporting Services 2008) but with there being so many to choose from have no idea which ones to purchase. If anybody has any recommendations I would be extremely grateful.

Try Teo Lachev's new book

I have his SSAS 2005 book and it's excellent.
Kind Regards, Will

Appolgies for bumping an old post, but I too am looking for useful SSRS books (2008 and 2005 versions). David, do you recommend Teo's book? Did you find any good SSRS2005 resources?
Thanks
Chris

Chris,
Teo's book is very good and the examples give you some good ideas for your own development work. As for any resources, plenty out there but to be honest I find digging into the product myself the best way forward and use other sites when I have any problems.
Hope this helps,
David.

Ditto with Dave, I learn best by starting out trying to build something from a user then figuring out the best way to do it in SSRS once I have the right data in a SP. That way you know exactly what parameters to send and usually the wizard will get you far on your way and do a nice job at presenting the data in a pleasing way to the users.
Then when I need to do something IE conditional formatting or manual column sort after rendering I just hit Google and I usually find the code snippet in 30 secs.

To start out with, I like the Brian Larson SQL Reporting Services series. But they are good to get an idea of what RS does, and then do a couple of simple reports. Going forward though, you'll much more frequently be working on your own reports and need something very specific that the books don't cover. At that point, the help files (generally for syntax questions) and Google are your friends.

In my opinion, you can refer to the url below:
