Hello,
Every Monday when I come to office We cannot connect to report server, I noticed the reporting service was down. Then I had to manually start it, then it works. All the weekdays it works OK.
The reporting service is setup for automatically restart. By looking at sql log, the sql server is not stopped and started during the weekend.
I don't know what happened during the weekend, but it seems it's an automatical thing, I checked th log in windows event viewer, all I found is a message: cannot connect to report server, I think that happens when we tried to connect to the report server, since it's down, it gives that message. So that doesn't help.
In SQL log, I can find an information message:
This instance of sql server has been using a process ID of 5920 since 5/4//2009. This is an informational message only, no user action is required.
What could be the problem? How can fix it?
Thanks

I am not sure what's going on, and can offer little help other than mentioning that message you posted is normal. This is not a sign of your problem. This message appears all the time in my SQL logs or servers not even using RS.

What does the application log of the reporting services server say?

Thanks, in the application log, I found there is msinstaller that tried to apply windows update Sql server sp3, and book online, for some reason it failed.
I don't need sp3 now, so I think I may just ask our network guy to roll back the windows update.
