you have to reconfigure reporting service completely
first open services from control panel and go to sql server reporting service
and be sure Local system account at the log on tab and start the service
and open reporting service configuration manager go to database tab and set change database
if you have no reportserver database in your sql server create it if you have this database
then change sqlservername to "." (only dot) and choose from here reportserver database
then restart the reporting service and try again

Its running on the local system account only. But its not allowing me log into the reporting service by using the configuration manager. That is the problem.

do you use active directory to authenticate sql server
may be this is caused by permission problems
other if you could not start service or do not open configuration manager
remove ssrs feature from your sql server
control iis if it is configured for .net framework 2.0
then run windows cleanup utility to clean registry
then if you have not install SP3
after all reinstall SSRS feature with Local system account
