Can anyone tell me where these files are stored once they are loaded to report manager.

You should find the RDL in the Catalog table of the ReportServerDB and the physical files are in IIS Report Server web site in 2005 and below. I am not sure of 2008 I will check and post back because IIS is not required. I should note in 2005 and below you need the RDL, images and solution files to run the reports as need based on what your report is doing.

Thanks for your response, i was thinking some how that those report files are stored on the file system......
so lets say i'm installing SSRS on each instance in a cluster environment with the RS report database created on the Virtual SQL cluster, if node 1 fails then the report should still be able to function on node 2.
am i correct?

If you are in 2005 the links below will help you with all your needs, in 2008 look for the Technet doc for SQL Server 2008 because it is not IIS dependent.
