Good Morning All,
I am new to reporting services so if this a very simple issue I apologise in advance. The problem I have is based around the functionality in the versions that various comparison charts on MicroSoft's website has not cleared up.
Essentially what I want to know is can I create and deploy models using SQL Standard Edition in order so that those models can then be accessed through the Report Builder to create reports from within https://localhost/reportserver.
Any ideas? I'm sure you can but we cannot find the model template in Visual Studio (currently only one colleague can create them using a developer edition of the SQL Server - but he cannot deploy them to the Report Server).
I believe we may have installed SQL incorrectly.
Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem yesterday first the SQL server was not installed properly.
(It was installed from a image on a network server so we installed it again using a CD, It seems when doing it from a network drive the file should be placed in proper folders http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=916760 )
Under start >> All Programs >> Microsoft SQL Server 2005
The Business Intelligence Development Studio was missing.
After installing that the templates were seen under Visual Studio 2005 when we selected Business Intelligence Projects under File >> New
Also the IIS server was installed and then I was able to deploy to the report server

Ok - we kind of have a different issue in many ways. In fact we still have the problem.
Microsoft have confimred that the ability to build models, deploy them onto the Report Server and the Report Builder comes with Standard and Enterprise.
We have standard licences so we should be fine.
However, in BIDS once everything is installed there is no model designer/model template to found!!!
The machines we are using has had SQL Express Advanced installed on them which inlcudes BIDS (report designer templates only) which may be causing us the problem.
How do we get the model templates into BIDS???????? From what I understand we should be able to see the template for the report models in the new> project menu.
Any ideas. Desperation is now setting in. PLEASE HELP.

The Template will be seen under Visual Studio 2005
Under File >> New >> Project >> and then under Project Types we have Business Intelligence Projects
Thats how I could resolve it, after installing SQL server and IIS and then I restarted the computer.
The Template was seen under Visual Studio 2005.

For us there is only the report project template and the report project wizard template.
Any more ideas?
I know it should be there but despite many reinstalls we just cannot get the model template to appear!
