Hi all,
I had one of the developers ask me about using Report Builder for Reporting Services for SQL 2005.
Looking at http://www.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2005/en/us/reporting-services-features.aspx it would seem that this is available in standard edition, which is great, but I have no idea where the install for Report Builder 1.0 is.
I did a search on Microsoft and came up with Report Builder 2.0 (for SQL 2008) - but we dont have a sql 2008 license right now, so I dont think we can use this..
Can someone give me some direction on where I can find Report Builder 1.0?
Thanks

Report Builder is a click once application that is available from Report Manager for all users who are in the (Reporting Service) Report Builder role. Go to http://server/Reports and you should see this as an Icon on the page that you can click on.
Report Builder requires a report model to exist before it can do anything - it will not directly access any data source that may exist on the server. You will need to create a report model.
If the data you need is in an Analysis Services database, this is pretty straightforward - just edit the data source in Reporting Services and you should be able to generate a report model directly from the data source.
If the data you are after is in SQL Server, you will need to manually create the report model using BIDS.
