Is there a way to restore replication on a new server? We have 2 servers with identical hardware and software setups. We occasionally do a server switch every couple of months. Before the server switch, I do backups of the databases (to include master, msdb and model) and take the server off the network. I then bring up the second server, change the server name and IP address to reflect what the previous server was set up as. After restoring the databases on the new box, I find that replication is no longer setup. After several hours of researching, I have come to the conclusion that replication cannot be restored. You basically have to re-script all of them. Is this true?

I find myself wondering why on earth you would want to do this with your servers!?!
But yes you can restore replicated databases without trouble. We do this all the time with our subscriber databases. If this is a publisher do you have your distributor database on another machine? If not you will also need to restore it before restoring your publisher database.
