Replication-- need advice

  • Hi all,

We are trying to set up transactional replication.  Between Various teams:  Namely Network and DBA, there is a distinct role definition and split of responsibilities in our organization.  The DBA's are 'SA' on the SQL Server databases and the Network people are the 'SA' on the Servers that host the SQL Server or the o/s.  The question is Does the DBA need to be the Local Admin on the physical server to be able to set up replication?

    Thank You all in advance.

  • Nope shouldnt need to.

Replication should really be DBA responsibilty as its her who wil get it in the neck if the data is missing currupt etc.

  • It is also the DBA which will deal with all the problems which can occur with Transactional Replication.

The DBA should therefore have enough access and responsibilty to both sides for troubleshooting.
