Replication From ss2k to ss2k5

  • I am trying to setup replication from ss2k to ss2k5.Can anyone give me the steps to follow

  • use management studio to connect to all the servers including the sql2k ones and do it all from there. otherwise it's the same process as sql 2000

  • when I attempt to configure a distributor using SS2K5, on SS 2K, I get a message saying the server 'GURUAT22' is an older version of SQL Server and cannot be the Distributor for server 'GURAPP55'.

  • i am doing the replication through script from ssk2 to ssk25

  • What type of replication and publication?  Depending on this you may be able to replicate with SQL 2000 to 2005.  Here's an exerpt from the books on-line.

Subscriber version depends on the type of publication:

    • A read-only Subscriber to a transactional publication can be any version within two versions of the Publisher version. For example: a SQL Server version 7.0 Publisher can have SQL Server 2005 Subscribers; and a SQL Server 2005 Publisher can have SQL Server version 7.0 Subscribers.
    • An updatable Subscriber to a SQL Server 2005 transactional publication can be any version equal to or greater than Microsoft SQL Server 2000 SP3.
    • A Subscriber to a merge publication can be any version less than or equal to the Publisher version.
  • we are using Transactional replication and

    Standard transactional publication

  • Finally the replication was setup from SQL Server 2000 to SQL Server 2005.

Thanks all of u for the ur greate cooperation.
