Hi Guys,
I have a weird situation here. It has been couple of times that our distribution agent jobs are getting deleted. At first we thought somebody might have been manually deleting these jobs but the process continued. Have you guys come across this situation? All other jobs are fine in the server but only the replication ( DA Jobs) gets deleted. Do you think anything going on on the server i mean with the hardware perspective , OS or any other things.
I will appreciate your ideas and help.
Thanks,
Srawan

Hi,
It can't be something with the OS/HW, otherwise your databases would be corrupt and you'd definitely noticed it. So something is on the SQL side. Question: only the jobs disappear or the subscriptions as well? You can check it in the distribution database, in the dbo.MSsubscriptions and MSdistribution_agents tables. Also, can you find any pattern in the disappearance? All the DAs disappear sooner or later or there are old ones and just a few keeps disappearing, do they disappear after a given time or in a defined period of the day? Also, silly but must put the question: the automatically delete the job on completion option is not set automatically on the server, isn't it?
So, actually, I have no real idea, but I can give you some 🙂 Btw, please write us when you find the solution. I'm pretty interested.

Hey Erik,
Thanks for the reply. It has been 3 times now in two different subscriber servers. The distribution agent jobs are on these servers. The pattern of disappearing is they disappeared in between ( 10- 11 AM). For now we have enabled audit to check who logs on that time thinking if those jobs were manually deleted by somebody. For now we have nothing we can do ... I will certainly update if we come accross with some solution..
Thanks

Hi,
Just another idea: are the subscriptions logging properly? Couldn't that happen that for some reason the agent cleanup job removes the subscriptions?
