So, I have an interesting problem that I'm trying to work out. In my merge replication environment, I get the occasional replication conflict(s) in some of my databases. I'm not exactly looking for a solution to solving those, but what I am looking for is a better notification scheme for when they do occur.
I don't really consider going into enterprise manager a few times a day and monitoring the replication threads to be adequate. I don't necessarily want to jump on the problem as soon as it occurs, but there have been times where I've forgotten to check the monitor and let a conflict sit for 4 or more hours.
I've been looking at ways to create an alert that'd notify me (or others in the company) when a conflict does occur. To my knowledge, no error number is thrown up when a conflict is detected. Does anybody have a better way of monitoring conflicts than the enterprise manager replication monitor?
And... does anybody know if microsoft is ever going to put out a better version of the conflict viewer? I've had that piece of software crash on me on more than a few occasions.
