Replication - Changing Publisher Database While Maintaining Subscriber

  I am replicating some ERP tables to another instance of SQL on a separate VM.  Replication on the ERP VM is Transactional and replicates data to the Subscriber on a schedule.

  I am preparing to upgrade my ERP system, and with it a new version of SQL on a new VM.  I will need to setup replication again, however, I need to point to the same VM where the Subscriber database is located.

  Is this as simple as removing the ERP tables from the Subscriber database and configuring replication on the new SQL ERP VM to point to the existing database?  Or is it more complicated than that?
