Replication between SQL2000 Database and SQL2005

    Dear All,

    In our environment we have the following

    production servers (SQL 2000) - Production Database

    Disaster Recovery Servers (SQL 2000) - Production Databases

    Reporting Server (SQL 2000) - production database (overnight snapshot)

    Production and DR servers operate by Logshipping for 15 minute update.

    Reporting Server 2000 is an overnight snapshot (DTS jobs) from production.

    Firstly, we are retiring the reporting server and moving to an SQL 2005 box.

    Users request updates every hour or so on reporting server.

    First of all. Can I replicate between sql server 2000 sp3 to sql 2005 box, what is the best way to go.

    yes you can. when multiple versions participate in replication, the distributor is generally the lowest common denominator -- cant be lower than publisherr.
