We have a Merge Replication running to a remote site and would like to be e-mailed if it fails. I have set up a merge to run once every hour on two test boxes and enabled the Replication: agent success pre-defined alert. The agent runs are being entered into the SQL Server lof, but the alert is not being fired(?). I do not know what else to try. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you configured the "Response" for the alert ? By default, alerts are not configure with a response which means that even if the alert condition occurs, nothing will happen.
The simplest response is to notify an operator. Configure an operator with an email address and add this operator to the alert's response and then see what happens when the replication agent finishes.

I have the alert configured to execute a job when it triggers.
