Hi,
I am very new to replication and I had successfully implemented transactional replication but I couple of questions in my mind and I started played around with replication too but in vain and could get answers for what I had in my mind.
1. What happens if I drop publication at the publisher side if the replication is HEALTHY does it cause any problem
2. What is the role played by snapshot and can we restore any thing from the snapshot.
3. How can I see whether the replication is Pull based or push based any query?
Can any one please help me out, I appreciate you wholeheartedly.
Thanks,
Ravi.

Please don't try this on production, your replication will fail.

Snapshot will be used by default to create a copy of the published articles on the subscribers. A BCP activity takes place in the backgroung.

When you right click on publication properties, you could see an option 'subscription options'.
In that you can see.

Thanks, Mohammed for your input, Just as an additional information I had deleted publication in local publihser and subscription at the subscriber. if this is the process we do it right? if this is not then how can we drop the publication. If I did the wrong way in system tables does the information will stay orphaned just because I had deleted the publication at the local publisher?
Thanks,
Ravi

When you right click on the replication folder in SSMS, you get the option to 'Disable publishing and distribution', you need to use this for disabling instead of directly deleting publication from the replication folder.
Do this only if you do not need replication anymore in your server.

Thanks Mohammed, thanks for your help. but I using disabling publicaiton and distribution it will only disable replication right. If I am deleting publication will have any adverse effects or in system tables those entries will be there?
Thanks,
Ravi
