Replicating to different geographic location

    Good day,

    I'm a new to SQL Replication and would like to ask for some guidance. Our scenario is that both the Publisher and Subscriber are located in different cities.

    In order to replicate the database, does the Publisher need to be always connected to a VPN to see the subscriber, vice versa?

    It is much easier and safer using VPN connection. But I think it is possible to use FTP protocol to replicate between two cities. But I have never tried it before. So I am not sure.
