I have an instance .\SQLEXPRESS (2005) - generally this server is never running - but saved for testing. I also have an instance SERVERNAME\SQLEXPRESS2008 - for development work.
I'd like to either rename my 2008 instance to .\SQLEXPRESS (and suitably rename the existing instance of that name) or find the config files somewhere in the system that insists on putting .\SQLEXPRESS in my existing server connections in Visual Studio - despite having renamed them several times and saved them
If this duplicates on the new ASK SCC section - then I'd be surprised as after going through its re-registration and set up I'm pretty sure that Ask SCC just contemptuously discarded my question.
