Hi Guys,
Sorry for posting in the wrong forum... but I am sure someone can help me with this... Our office computer has Windows Vista Enterprise while my home computer also has Windows Vista. When I remote into my work computer from home, it is very slow and I cannot work from home.... I googled the issue and seems like many ppl using Vista are facing this... I also did what few ppl had suggested... seems like that helped a bit on that particular day, but again the connection is slow... I am using Verizon DSL 2gb for the internet... I hope it is not due to internet... I work on Sql 2008 and BIDs sometimes to create SSIS.
Any suggestion is appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm pretty used to remote desktop through the internet being pretty awefully slow.
I've used Vista for remote desktop locally (same LAN) with no problems, and I've used it from three blocks away with annoying speed.
If you really want to be sure the problem is Vista and not the connection, bring the home computer to work and try using it on the LAN.

Things to check when slow.
Check ping times between your host machine and your vpn and/or work ip address. 200ms+ is probably slow. This may be related to your providers network.
Do a traceroute to determine where the delay is between the 2. Conatct your provider with this information.
Check your local machine firewall logs for blocked data coming from your target machine or vpn connection.
This sounds like to be a networking type issue more than anything.

Other things to remember when the RDP session is slow:
Check the user experience settings. Things like desktop background, themes, bitmap caching, etc cause slowness as well.
Also, it might be worth a try to use a different product such as VisionApp Remote Desktop.
