When I try to connect to Analysis Services by browsing for the machine, the "Network Servers" tab isn't even in the dialog. The "Local Servers" tab is. This is true across all 5 machines on which I have installed Sql Server Management Studio 2008. The same problem does not exist for the Database Engine; there, the Network Servers tab is available and works correctly. If I ignore the browser and type in the hostname, it times out saying the host failed to respond, despite the fact that I have started the AS service and opened the necessary ports on the server, and added my AD user the AS admin role. I have searched the docs and googled for hours and can't find any hint. Can someone please put me out of my misery? It is extremely frustrating to not be able to make any progress with Analysis Services because of this most basic issue.
Thanks for you help!

Do you have the SQL Server Browser service enabled and running on the SSAS server at all?
