My team has a production box in a remote hosting location. We have been told to configure SQL Server to use windows authentication only but it seems this is impossible to do remotely. Doe anyone know if it is possible and how???
Currently we are using SQL Server authentication and this works fine of course.
The hosted box is a standalone, not on a domain, on NT 4.0.

Only way would be if you could establish a VPN connection or use PCAnywhere, etc.

You can do this, but you need a domain account at the remote facility. If it's a standalone server, then you need a local account on the machine.

We discussed VPN or PC anywhere with the hosting facility and they said they didn't have VPN software. PC Anywhere might be a possiblity but they admitted they are not very knowledgable about implementing either solution.
Also, we made a local account on the hosted standalone, and I made a matching local account on my PC. When I logged in as that account and tried to Register the remote server with NT authentication I got a message that about a non-trusted connection and registration failed. What steps am I missing to register with the local account??
Thanks for your help.
