Release Dates of Microsoft Official Courses

  • Hello,

Is there any way to get the date of when Microsoft releases official courses (classroom training)? For example, when did Microsoft release course 2795A, 'Designing ETL Solution Architecture Using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Integration Services'?

    Thank you for your help!

  • I don't think the dates are posted anywhere.  There's a page that lists projected release dates for upcoming courses on the MCT private site.  Dates are not guaranteed; courses may be pulled during the beta process and reworked.  There are several new and updated instructor-led classroom courses recently released and becoming available over the next month or two.  All of these courses are included in the list if you use the Search For Training tool at http://www.microsoft.com/learning .

Beware the 'Designing ETL with SSIS' course you mentioned, and any of the SQL Server 2005 'Designing...' courses.  There is a big difference between 'designing' and 'actually doing'.  Most students don't know they are actually expected to know SSIS before taking this class.  The Designing...SSIS course was such a flop that many training centers and trainers that offered it wound up providing plenty of self-written hands-on material.

There is a new hands-on SSIS course (2792A: Implementing and Maintaining Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Integration Services (3 days) - syllabus available here:

http://www.microsoft.com/learning/syllabi/en-us/2793afinal.mspx) that will be generally available in May.  Unlike the 'Designing...' course, this one is targeted at people wanting to learn the tool.

Always be sure to review any syllabus for any course before you attend for both prerequisites and content.
