Registration to SQL Server Central

  • Please remove the requirement to register in order to view an article here. My contact information is not something I wish to freely hand out to anyone. I'm doubtful that the article I found here via an Internet Search will even contain the information I seek nor do I believe I will necessarily ever wish to view any additional articles here since it is the first time this site has ever come up from one of my searches. Instead of requiring contact information up front in order to view articles, prove yourself worthy first. I have paid membership's or have registered with some other sites because they have proven their value to me. SQL Server Central has not yet done this and by placing a road block in front of me requiring a violation of my privacy it remains doubtful that it ever will.

  • Thanks for your opinion and it is noted.

However I think this site has proven it's value over the last 6 years to thousands of DBAs all around. I understand that you might not know about us, but we require your email address to send you a newsletter. That's the cost of signing up on the site. You are free to unsubscribe at anytime, including immediately, but this site costs a significant amount of money to run every month, well over five figures US. We have to pay for that somehow, and advertising is how that is done.

While you may not like this, you might be less interested in paying up front and then finding you don't like the site, which is what some other sites require. Instead we require you to give up your email address, nothing else. No other personal information.

You are welcome to not disclose your email, but then we will not be providing our service to you.
